Games From Yester Years!!

Childhood, the best age with full of Positivity, leaving no space for any negative trait or thought in one's mind!! The thought of childhood by any adult itself makes them feel fresh, energetic, lively and happy instantly.

Games are the ways through which one channelizes power gush, energy while having lot of fun. And games from yesteryear hmmm......Lagori, playing marbles on the ground, playing with top, Gokul and so many others.... list is never ending. They were too much of fun, either outdoors and indoors.

Once my coach explained it in a very simple way. Outdoor Games are War Games .....wherein you not only need to survive but be quick to take decision to win. Games like lock and key, dodge ball, hide and seek even today makes me feel like playing when I see my kids playing. One of the game which I miss playing a lot is Lagori......wait let me explain it to you in our language. To achieve our target by doing anything like taking help from team, hiding, running, passing the blocks, saving self from getting out once hit by the ball. Then shout "Lagori sssssss" once we finish piling the stones or say achieving our target.

For further details about how to play the game you can check the link below:

And, Indoor Games are mind games which you can play without physically moving around. One video I would like to share is about Seven Stone game. It's an interesting game which we usually used to play, when we were punished and made to sit in the house without having any toys. So, we used to take seven stones to play this game.

Seven stones game, is the one which when played outside it called lagori and can be played indoor as well. There are many such games which are nowadays seen no one playing but it was so much fun and enjoyment to play them without any expensive gadgets.

  1. This post made me do time travel. We had such fun times with our friends playing these games which are nearly forgotten by kids of children's generation. We used to call not call it Lagori but Satoliya or Pithu :)

  4. Love the idea that outside games are war games, they certainly have a different intensity and scope then what gets played inside. Our current games of choice inside are Snakes & Ladders as well as Jenga. Your stone games look fun and would be a welcome addition to our indoor fun. The videos were a nice touch to your post. Thank you for sharing.
