Everyday Is A Festival!

Other day I read a line on the T shirt of my son..."I hate January... it is the Monday of months!!!" So true I thought. After a great festive season of November and December, here in India, January starts on the dull note. From national festivals like Republic Day to religious ones like Sankranti and Holi, there are a very few festivals to cheer up the soul. The cheerfulness of the festive season has inverse proportion with ever rising heat, I suppose! But then why it should be? Why am I so dependent on the festivals to be happy and peppy?

This very thought led me to question, "What are festivals by the way?" Myriad thoughts sprinted out in the open field of my mind. One thread of thought said...festivals are a great concoction of rituals and traditions. The other thought, wearing a philosophical hat jumped up and counter questioned...But are festivals only this? The exuberant feeling that a festival brings, should it be limited only to a particular day(s) of the year? One very wise looking thought stood up and said with a great intone...Or is it a wise way started by our forefathers to stop, look around and enjoy ourselves and everything associated with us?

My liberal self, liked this gentleman's line and I was  ready with an answer... Festivals are all about making self and every thing around self...simply happy! It is about recharging the batteries of the life! So why confine it to special days? Why not every day, prudently called as "Present"...a gift,be celebrated?
Just close your eyes and smell the freshness of the air...little hot although now a days! Hear the chirping of the birds...And feel the joy of being alive to witness this magic called "Life"!! Be happy that you have come so far in the amazing journey of life...be happy about the sweet memories... be happy that you have some sad memories too... 'coz they taught you some lessons and made you a strong person...be happy that you have been ignorant about many things, 'coz ignorance is bliss... be happy that you are you, a unique creation of GOD!!!
Being happy doesn't mean that life is perfect. It means that you have the grit to look beyond imperfections! So celebrate every day...as if it's a great festival...and that includes its end too!!!

  5. True and aptly put in words. Derive the happiness from the things around you. Stay happy and make people around you happy.

  6. Yeah true ..Why to wait for festivals or special day to be happy..Start your day with positive thoughts and freshness of mind by saying today I will be happy and will make everyone happy..Then feel the inner strength all throught the day..

  8. I love the January is the Monday of months quote! And you are right, being happy does not mean life is perfect. Some of the happiest people I know are going through some rough times that only their confidants know about.

  11. The quote is really interesting but I can't dare to hate it for obvious reason,it is birth month of my dear wife.
You are absolutely right there not to wait for special day to be happy. But we don't understand simple things that easily and once we start running the mad race, we feel the need for (poor) show stopper.
MoMo will definitely be helpful to make us understand simple things with ease.
