Cat Who Wished To Hear Purr...

A cat and a her nuclear family of four shifted to the City Of Dreams. Getting the right place to start the new life turned out to be an uphill task. Soon the right nook was spotted and the family started dwelling there. To begin with the cat and the family felt little bit out of the place. The new neighborhood appeared very sophisticated. Will we be able to live here happily? Was it a right decision to move from the comforts of country side? Would we be able to cope up with the demands of the busy lifestyle in the city? These and many such questions clouded the mind space of the cat.

Though the clouds were dark, there was a silver lining. The cat had the fancy idea after all, idea of finding the Purr, the very Gossip, that cushioned all her anxiety. The nook of the society where they found new abode was plush and upmarket. The latest models of the four wheels, sedans and SUVs could be seen in the parking lot. Cat was sure that this was the very high life society....Purr...the gossip, must be an integral part of this society...and here was her real interest...the Purr...the Gossip.. the very fancy idea about which she had no previous experience... but had always heard the stories about it...as to how juicy and exciting it is!!!
Soon every one in the family got busy with their new friend circle. The initial anxiety dissolved like thin air! The cat also had her share of friends... each one ranging from just a hi-bye to some real close pals. As she grew closer to the few of them, her dream of getting to hear the Purr, shattered!!! Here were other cats, belonging to same social and humble backgrounds, as that of hers. Their chats mostly were restricted to mundane and dull topics like challenges in bringing up the kittens, ever growing difficulty in managing the household and  the most burning issue was "finding good maids"... What a sorry state of affairs it turned out to be!!! No trace of Purr....hmmmm
The cat one day, however learnt that a Kitty group was in the making. She thought, this was her chance to be a party to all the Purr and hisses!!! She enrolled herself with a lot of expectations and enthusiasm. Attempts to sniff out the Purr failed miserably in all the kitty meetings and lunch outings. This cat tried her best to peer through the eyes of the cats. Tried her best to scratch the surfaces with her not so sharp nails...But in vain... she could not spot an iota of the purr in them. This gang also turned out to be of same vanilla flavor as that of hers...
She cursed her luck, only to realize that she was fortunate to flock with the birds of same feather! She was lucky to be surrounded by the simple and down to earth cats...And most important...it was always better to be with the modest cats and that the Purr, the Gossip can wait till eternity! Simple life devoid of all the Gossip was really blissful!
BUT, IN THE HEART OF THE HEARTS, THE CAT REALLY WISHED TO HEAR SOME PURR!!!

  3. True n nicely written. We tend to fly with the birds of same feather. Though we try hard to fit ourselves in another flock with a different life n nature not matching ours we cannot fly with them. My personal experience though n I think everybody has the same.

  5. Nicely written as always. Just a thought hit my mind. Is it not difficult to appreciate the value of life without gossips, without experiencing the nuisance of it, directly or indirectly?

    1. Thank you Aniruddha... it's the gossips which lead us to new friendships when we find a common ground, isn't it??

  8. Nicely written! We roam all around for happiness but fail to realize that the real happiness comes from within, from accepting the surroundings!!
